Free education in the United States is not a fantasy, but the result of long and painstaking work.

The Cooper Union
City: New York

Fields: Architecture, Fine Arts, Engineering

Degrees: Bachelor’s and Master’s.

Education in the United States is free at Cooper Union, a prestigious private university in New York City founded in 1859 by American industrialist Peter Cooper. The cost of studying here is $35,000 per year. This amount is fully covered by the university for each enrolled student (full tuition scholarship).

However, firstly, to get there is not so simple (only about 13%), and secondly, in addition to the cost of education, there are other costs that the student will have to pay for yourself. The latter include housing, student fees, textbooks, food, transportation, and health insurance.

Macaulay Honors College
City: New York City

Destinations: Over 200 majors at 8 campuses.

Degrees: Combined (depends on main campus)

A free education in the United States is also available at Macaulay Honors College. It is part of the City University of New York (CUNY) and is designed for students considering applying there. The cost of tuition here is $16050 per year. To receive funding, you need to apply simultaneously to Macaulay Honors College and one of the colleges CUNY (Baruch College, Brooklyn College, City College, Hunter College, John Jay College, Lehman College, Queens College, and the College of Staten Island). If you are accepted to both, your tuition will be free. In addition, you’ll get a MacBook, admission to most New York City museums and galleries, and other opportunities like grants and internships.

Anyone of any age and from any part of the world can enroll, as long as they have not previously attended other institutions of higher learning.

University of the People
City: distance learning

Fields of study: Business Administration, Computer Science, and Health Sciences

Degrees: Associate and Bachelor of Science

Free universities in the U.S. have recently welcomed a new friend, the University of the People. It is an accredited online university especially for those who for some reason cannot enter a traditional university. Professors from various American educational institutions teach there. Tuition is free, you only need to pay a few fees ($60 for the application and $200 for the exams). There are only three specialties so far. International students will need proof of English language proficiency. Other entrance exams are not provided.

Now you can be sure that a free education in the United States is still possible! And we sincerely wish you to become a part of it!
