WHAT Arts in Action

WHEN Training Varies

In partnership with the Department of Education, Learning Leaders Arts in Action pilot program is working to connect art teachers with volunteers throughout New York City. Volunteers will work with arts teachers on a variety of projects such as production, teaching dance, assisting with chorale and theatre rehearsals along with providing general classroom support. If you can give some extra time to this project, we can definitely use your help.

WHEN Flexible training opportunities occur on a monthly basis

Volunteers assist high school students in New York City public school by helping prepare students for their Regents and SAT exams. Volunteers tutor students in English, Math, Sciences, and Social Studies. Volunteers must complete two training sessions prior to being placed at a high school.


WHAT Elementary & Middle School Tutors/Coaches

WHERE Citywide

WHEN Training Varies

Our elementary and middle school volunteers serve as either tutors or general support coaches either one-on-one or in small groups helping students to improve their academic performance, social skills, and self-confidence. Elementary School & Middle School Volunteers must complete four (4) training sessions prior to being placed in a public school.

All volunteers are screened according to guidelines created by the New York City Department of Education. Volunteers complete an application, participate in an interview, and must complete training prior to being placed in a school. Click here to complete an online application.
