Estate & Planned Gifts

The Mary Pease Society

Estate planning may provide the best opportunity to make a gift that will have a lasting impact on the lives of public school children in New York City. We strongly encourage our regular donors to consider joining the Mary Pease Society and to make a provision for Learning Leaders in your will.

Mary Pease was one of the 20 volunteers who founded Leaning Leaders (originally the New York City School Volunteer Program) in 1956. To ensure that our work would continue after she was gone, Mary made a bequest in her will to the organization – and on behalf of public school children.

To honor Mary's extraordinary contribution, we created the Mary Pease Society in 1995, thereby recognizing all our thoughtful supporters who remember us in their wills.

If you wish to include such a bequest in your estate plans, we suggest the following language:

"I give and bequeath to Learning Leaders at 80 Maiden Lane, 11th Floor, New York, NY 10038-4811, [either]
  (i) the following percentage of my residuary estate ____ or
(ii) the amount of ___ thousand dollars or
(iii) the following item of specific property (e.g., securities, real estate, etc.)."
